A digital commerce and loyalty app for a global coffee shop chain
Joe & The Juice is a global chain of upscale juice bars and coffee shops. We designed the mobile experience for iOS and Android to help streamline the ordering process for over 300 stores.
The new digital commerce and customer engagement platform features a vibrant visual identity with unique brand elements infused throughout the app. Our team iterated on the app over a multi-year partnership to incorporate features supporting the loyalty program, pickup, delivery, and a seamless purchase flow.
With time to expand on the app, we discovered ways to refine the presentation of the fresh products. The work across our teams also helped Joe & The Juice sustain during the global pandemic by improving key flows and creating contactless solutions for order pickups.
While waiting for pickup or delivery, customers are presented with animations that show the current stage of their order. Each illustration leverages a pleasant color palette and elevates what would typically be a boring experience.
Courier on the Way
To gamify Joe’s extensive loyalty program, we created unique 3D elements that connect brand imagery with a point system.
The app has an unconventional magazine style while maintaining usability and allowing users to navigate without friction.
We introduced loyalty cards within the app to help users benefit from being routine customers and added digital gift cards to eliminate the use of paper ones. Both are especially useful for travelers who can use the cards at locations worldwide.
Based on user research, we customized the ordering process by introducing a category list designed with icons to expedite the user’s journey to the products they seek.
The contactless solution was accomplished by designing a special screen displaying the customer’s name. Since stores can be loud from the blenders and music, this design helps employees identify people for order pickups in an efficient way.
